Andrew Ord leaves
Bangladesh national football team's head coach Andrew Ord has left his charge, confirmed Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin today.
The England-born Australian national guided the team to a 2-2 draw against Laos on March 27 after two practice matches against Thai League 1 clubs earlier in the week. It has been learnt that Ord has already joined Thai League 1 club Air Force Central as their head coach. It is believed that the communication with the Thai Club took place during that tour.
"He had communicated with us four days ago and told us that he would not be able to return to Bangladesh due to family reasons. We granted his wish and terminated the contract mutually yesterday," Salahuddin told The Daily Star when contacted over phone.
Although Ord could not be reached for a comment on the issue, his wikipedia page and the wikipedia page of the Thai club show him as their head coach.
Salahuddin also informed that a meeting of the National Teams' Committee will take place next Tuesday where the issue of appointing a new coach would be discussed.
Ord joined the Bangladesh team in June 2016 and was contracted for a one-year term. While Bangladesh national team did not play any competitive matches during his time except for the Laos match, he worked with under-23 and under-19 teams during their international assignments.
