Pass rate of SSC, equivalent exams falls by 2.58%

The combined pass rate of all the 10 education boards has also declined to 77.77 percent from 80.35 percent last year.

As many as 1,10,629 studentssecured the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) this year whereas it was1,04,761 in 2017, according to a private television channel.

Meanwhile, the average pass rate of SSC examinations under eight education boards is 79.40 per cent which is lower than last year’s 81.21 per cent, according to Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

The number of students who secured a Grade Point Average of 5 (GPA-5), is 1, 02,845. The number of students who secured GPA-5 has increased by 4,881, the daily said.

Madrasa and vocational boards have seen a drop in this year's success rate with a pass rate of 70.89 percent and 71.96 percent respectively.

The pass rate under madrasa board was 76.20 percent last year while 78.69 percent students passed under the vocational board in 2017.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid this morning formally handed over a copy of the SSC and equivalent examinations results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gono Bhaban in presence of the chairmen of all the 10 education boards.

The education minister will hold a press conference giving the details of the SSC results at his office at 1:00pm, television channels said.

The results will be made available at 2:00pm all over the country. The students can get the results from their respective school or it will also be available on www.educationboardresults.gov.bd.

A total of 20.31 lakh students from 28,551 educational institutions under 10 education boards appeared in this year's SSC and equivalent examinations.

The examinations, held in February, were marred by widespread allegations of question leak that drew fierce criticism.

A government probe committee found question papers of “Kha” set of multiple choice questions (MCQ) of 12 out of 17 subjects were leaked, but the education ministry decided not to retake the exams as “an insignificant number” of students benefited from the leak.

HOW TO GET RESULTS

The results will be available via Short Message Service (SMS).

Students can get the results by typing “SSC/DAKHIL<space> first three letters of the board's name<space>student's roll number<space>2018” and sending the message to 16222.

Requests for a review can be made through state-run mobile operator Teletalk in between May 7 and 13.
