Messi, Ronaldo reach combined total of 1000 goals
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo hit a combined total of 1,000 goals for Barcelona and Real Madrid after both score in the latest clasico fixture.
Messi and Ronaldo together have reached a huge milestone. The pair have made a habit of breaking records and they just broke another. The duo reached a combined goal-scoring landmark after both found the net in Sunday’s clasico at the Camp Nou. Ronaldo equalized for Real Madrid in the 14th minute after Luis Suarez had given Barca the lead in the 10th minute while in the second half Messi gave Barca the lead again with an individual effort in the 52nd minute.
The Barcelona and Real Madrid forwards have scored 551 and 449 goals for their clubs respectively across all competitions. And that means that the pair have now struck millenary goals between them for the two Spanish giants.
The pair have been long-time rivals, and while Ronaldo wins the battle in terms of goals, Messi trumps the real Madrid star in terms of club trophies won, as well as possessing a better goals-per-game ratio.
Lionel Messi is the Champions League’s second highest scorer with 100 goals while Cristiano Ronaldo tops that particular list with 120 goals to his name.
After Ronaldo’s strike against Barca, he drew level with Alfredo Di Stefano as Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer in clasico meetings. Lionel Messi still remains the one with the most goals scored in clasico fixtures. The Barcelona playmaker added to his haul last night and now has 26 goals in clasicos.
