Modric clears Inter of any wrongdoing at FIFA hearing
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric put his club in a difficult position after he exonerated Inter Milan of all wrongdoings related to contacting the player and instead said that he was the one who contacted the Serie A club over a possible change of scenario.
Earlier yesterday, Real Madrid had reported Inter Milan to FIFA over an alleged illegal approach for the star Croatia midfielder. The 32-year-old, who captained his country to the World Cup final and was named player of the tournament, has been linked with a move to Serie A.
According to Spanish media Don Balon, Modric confessed that it was not Inter who had tried to sign him. His confession apparently ‘hurt Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’, the report further added.
Nerazzurri were fully aware that they would not be able to submit an offer to Real Madrid to buy the Croatian whose price tag is over €150 million. But Modric is said to have always dreamt of playing for the Italian giants and contacted the club as three of his compatriots are currently playing at Inter.
After Madrid proposed a new contract the midfielder did not force an exit, the report said.
