More teachers for primary: Minister
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain today said more teachers will be recruited in the primary education sector.
Underscoring the need of standard primary education in nation building, the minister said the age for pre-primary admission will be decreased.
He was speaking at a reception programme at the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) in Mirpur earlier today. He sought everyone’s cooperation.
Addressing as a special guest at the programme, secretary to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Akram-Al-Hossain said the age for pre-primary admission will be lessened from existing five years to four years with a view to making the children school-oriented.
The secretary said the gap in teachers' wages will be reduced soon and new recruitment policy will be implemented immediately.
Another 20,000 thousand teachers will be recruited this year, he added.
DG of Primary Education Directorate Dr Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal and Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (development) Md Gias Uddin Ahmed were, among others, present at the programme.
