2 held over murder of ex-principal of Eden college
Two people were arrested in a case filed in connection with the murder of a former principal of Eden Mohila College Mahfuza Chowdhury Parvin.
The arrestees are Runu, who supplied the house helps, and Shopna, one of the housemaids of Mahfuza’s house, Maruf Hossain Sorder, deputy commissioner of Ramna division (DMP), said at a press briefing this afternoon.
Police suspects that the murder took place in a planned manner for looting jewellery and money, he said.
HOW WAS MAHFUZA MURDERED?
Mahfuza Chowdhury Parvin, 65, a social science professor who was the principal of the Eden Mohila College from February 2009 to April 2012, was strangled at her own house in the capital's Elephant Road on February 11 when her husband Ismat Quadir Gama was not at home.
Police initially suspected that the two house helps, who had been working there for one and a half months, have killed her and fled with the valuables.
