Women lose to Nepal 3-0
Bangladesh women's football team lost 3-0 against hosts Nepal today in their last group fixture to finish as Group A runners-up in the SAFF Women's Championship at the Shahid Rangsala in Biratnagar.
Golam Rabbani Chhoton's charges, who came into the match having already confirmed semifinal berth following a 2-0 win against Bhutan in their opening match, conceded all the three goals in the first half.
The women in red and green got on the backfoot in the sixth minute when Masura Parvin headed the ball into her own net, and since then it was a matter of Bangladesh trying to keep out the Nepal attacks.
Experienced forward Sabitra Bhandari doubled the lead in the 23rd minute before she set up Manjuli Kumari for the third goal four minutes later.
The result means Bangladesh will play their semifinal against the champions of Group B -- either India or Sri Lanka -- on March 20.
