Winnie, a lone woman buried to her waist. She follows her daily routine, prattles to her husband and remembers the memories of happy days.

Jyoti Sinha of Manipuri Theatre soulfully performed the character of Winnie, from Samuel Beckett's renowned play, Happy Days.

The drama, translated to Bangla by Kabir Chowdhury and Shahin Kabir, was directed by Shuvashis Sinha. It was staged at the Kabi Nazrul Auditorium in Sylhet city on Friday and Saturday evening.

Irish playwright and novelist Samuel Beckett's Happy Days is a tale of a lonely woman, who passes her time following a particular routine, remembering and fantasizing about happy days.

Though Samuel Beckett's original script depicts the presence of Winnie's husband Willie, the Bangla acquisition drops the character, turning it into a solo stage performance, while retaining the theme.

The stage play is presented by Hritmancha and Manipuri Theatre. Embassy of France and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy jointly supported the presentation of the play.
