Kiron retains FIFA, AFC posts

Bangladesh Football Federation's women wing chairman and FIFA council member Mahfuza Akter Kiron was elected as an AFC female executive committee member during the 29th AFC Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today.

She beat her only South Zone opponent Mariyam Mohamed of Maldives by 31 to 15 votes. Kiron also retained her position as a FIFA council member in this election. The hosts for the 2023 Asian Cup will also be decided in this election for the member of AFC Executive Committee.

The current president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa of Bahrain was elected unopposed and retained his post as well.
