Nusrat murder: another accused makes confession
Mohiuddin Shakil, an accused of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case, today made confessional statement before a court in Feni.
Shakil, who was also an Alim examinee of the madrasa, was on guard when Nusrat was set on fire, said Md Shah Alam, inspector of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and also the investigation officer of the case.
The accused gave confessional statement under the section of 164 before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Zakir Hossain this afternoon, a Feni correspondent reports quoting the PBI official.
Shakil took part in a human chain programme on March 28 and a procession on March 30 demanding the release of principal of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa Siraj Ud Doula, according to the court officials.
On April 25, a PBI team arrested Shakil from Purba Ukilpara of Feni town in connection with the murder case.
Madrasa student and Alim examinee Nusrat lost her battle for life, five days after she was set afire on April 6 -- an incident that touched off outrage all over the country.
A group of five people poured kerosene on the 18-year-old girl and set her afire allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case against the principal of the madrasa over sexual assault on her late last month.
