Bomb hurled at police van in Malibagh, female cop among 2 hurt

Two persons including a female police official were hurt as unidentified people hurled a crude bomb at a police vehicle in Malibagh intersection of Dhaka tonight.
Rasheda Akhter Babli (28), assistant sub-inspector (ASI), and Lal Miah (50), a rickshaw puller, were injured the blast around 9:00pm, Sargent Enamul of traffic police department (East division) told The Daily Star.
The two injured people were taken to Dhaka medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
Lal Miah sustained injuries on his head and Babli, in her left leg, the police official said.
The rear end of the police vehicle caught fire immediately after the blast, Sargent Enamul said.
Two units of fire fighters were dispatched over the incident, Babul Miah, operator at the fire service headquarters, told The Daily Star, adding that locals doused the fire immediately after the blast.
