‘Landmine blast’ kills one near border with Myanmar
A young man was believed to have been killed in landmines explosion near the zero point on Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban last night.
On information, police recovered the body of the unidentified person, aged around 30, from Tuiyanga area on Ghumdhum border at 8:00pm yesterday, said Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Naikhongchhari Police Station.
Police suspect that the young man might have been killed in an explosion of landmines planted by Myanmar border guards along the border, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting the OC.
Police sent the body to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
