I’VE BEEN SAT
I write to you from the comfort of my work chair. It’s a good chair, it has arm rests and the back support is slightly inclined. Although it ends halfway up my back when I sit up straight and I wish it didn’t, I’m okay with it.
The chair that usually accommodates me in class is much worse. It’s made of some sort of synthetic material, with no cushioning whatsoever, and the back support bends backwards way too much if I lean on it. It’s also quite low and my knees end up bent in an acute angle, which becomes significantly bothersome when I end up slouching and/or falling asleep.
I’m lucky that the classroom we’ve been assigned this semester has more than one type of chair. We have two types of wooden chairs, one with low back support and low seats and some older chairs whose back support will reach my neck if I sit up straight. I feel like the latter kind is much better for me, and it’s more difficult to fall asleep on them.
I love my chair at home, by the way. It’s a bit more expensive that the other ones, it reclines as much as I want it to, the height is adjustable, and it swivels. Who doesn’t like that?
In conclusion, I feel like I’ve been sitting down too much recently. Every morning, my back feels uncomfortable. I gotta change this. You gotta change this too.
