Couple dies from electrocution in Jatrabari
A man and his wife died from electrocution at their rented house in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area this morning.
The deceased were identified as Jahangir Alam, 50, a mason by profession, and his wife Aklima, 37, said Md Laizu, sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station.
Quoting family, the police official said Jahangir suffered injuries after he came in contact with an electric wire at a tin-shed bathroom of their residence on Konapara-Al Amin Road as the wire fell on it from an electric line.
His wife also came in contact with the electricity when she tried to save her husband, said SI Laizu.
The couple was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Jahangir dead, said the police official, adding that Aklima died at the same hospital around noon.
Man killed in Boro Moghbazar road crash
Meanwhile, a bicyclist was killed after a bus of Gazipur Paribahan crashed into his bicycle in Boro Mogbazar area in Dhaka this morning, said Qazi Mainul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station.
The deceased was identified as Bhola Nath, 45, son of Meghaloy Sarker of Keraniganj in Dhaka. He used to work in a workshop in Boro Mogbazar area.
The bus hit his cycle when he was going to his workplace on his bicycle in front of Grand Plaza around 10:00 am, leaving him injured.
He was rushed to the DMCH where he died around 3:00 pm, added the OC.
