Chris Martin's new song inspired by split

Coldplay front man Chris Martin has revealed his new collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow was inspired by the end of a relationship.

The singer's ex-wife features on the band's new track "Everglow" and Martin has hinted that their split could have inspired it. 

He says, "I was in the ocean one day with this surfer guy who went, 'Yo dude, I was doing this thing the other day, man. It gave me this total everglow!'

I was like, what an amazing word! Then the song came completely out. To me it's about something, whether it's a loved one or a situation or a friend or a relationship, that's finished and after you've been through the sadness of it, you get this everglow.

That's what it's about." The singer previously said Paltrow even wrote some of the lyrics after she mused to him.
