Charges have been pressed against 26 students of Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in the case for killing BCL leader Abu Sadat Khaled Mosharaf, also a student of the university.

Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar Singha of the Detective Branch (DB) of police in Tangail submitted a charge sheet against the students to the Judicial Magistrate's Court on Sunday evening, said Mahfijur Rahman Ghulam, officer-in-charge of Tangail DB police.

The charge-sheeted accused are Monirul Islam, Rabiul Hasan, Omar Faruque (1), Mohaimenul Quayyum, Ashiqur Rahman, Nibir Paul, Yasir Arafat, Manik Shil, Rezaul Karim, Babu Kishore Dey, Omar Faruque (2), Galib Ahmed, Parvez Mosharraf, Sohel Rana, Saddam Hossain, Jubayer Parvez Khan, Younus Ali, Pavel Rana, Ariful Islam, Ashraful Alam, Rajib Ahmed, Khandokar Rahim Reza, Omar Faruque (3), Nazim Uddin, Jubo Bhuiyan and Habibur Rahman.

Names of three other accused have not been included in the charge sheet as their involvement in the killing was not found during investigation, said OC Mahfijur Rahman. They are Ahad Khan, Saidur Rahman and Razib Mollah.   

Mosharraf, a master's student of criminology and police science department and the self declared BCL president of the "politics-free" university, was killed and two others–Faisal and Badhan–were injured as two rival groups clashed over establishing supremacy on the campus on May 13 this year.

On May 17, Mosharraf's father Shahidul Islam filed a murder case with with Tangail Model Police Station, accusing 14 named and some unnamed students of the university.

The case was later shifted to DB police for investigation.
