4-storey building tilts in Dhaka
A four-storey residential building in Mohammadpur area tilted this afternoon, forcing the authorities to evacuate the building.
The building at Tajmahal road in the area tilted around 3:30pm, creating panic among the residents of it and neighbouring buildings, Sajeeb Sarkar, station officer of Mohammadpur Fire Service and Civil Defence, told The Daily Star.
On information, fire fighters rushed to the spot and evacuated the building to avert any untoward incident, he said.
Officials of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) also visited the spot.
“Although we haven’t discovered any crack yet, we suspect that cracks might have developed in the building,” the official said when the report was filed around 5:15pm.
Further details could not be known immediately.
