Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah Riyad thinks that the number of all-rounders available at his disposal will be the biggest strength of his team in October-November's T20 World Cup in Oman and UAE.

Talking to ICC media, the veteran all-rounder said he was looking forward the collective strength of the team to win games in the event.

"I think our strengths have been our all-rounders and our bowling department. Having said that I think our batting department is also very good. I think we've got a good balance in our team, especially with five or six all-rounders who can bowl and bat. Our fast bowlers have been doing an incredible job at the moment and as usual, our spinners are our strength. If they can put up their hands in few matches, hopefully we can have good results," Mahmudullah said in the interview.

Himself being an all-rounder, Mahmudullah knows the value added by the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, the top T20 all-rounder in the world, together with the young crop of players who are finding their feet at the top level.

"If you want few names, I would say Shakib (Al Hasan). Shakib has been the number one all-rounder and he's the most valuable player in our team. Having said that Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman are also very important. Youngsters like Afif (Hossain), Shamim (Patwary) and (Nurul Hasan) Sohan are keen to do well for the team and for themselves. Those are the youngsters to look forward to," Mahmudullah said.

The 35-year-old has never led Bangladesh in a global tournament before. But he is taking to Oman and UAE a team which finally seems to have worked out the T20-code, having won back-to-back series against Zimbabwe and Australia. The experienced campaigner knows the importance of being switched on in every moment in every game.

"I think in a tournament like the T20 World Cup or any World Cup, every match is equally important, whoever you're playing against. Each game is important and you have to be on top from the first ball, you have to be in a frame of mind to focus on your team process so that you can win every game," Mahmudullah said.
