‘Evaly has Tk 311 crore in liabilities to customers’
Evaly has nearly Tk 311 crore in liabilities to its customers, 45 per cent higher than a probe finding of Bangladesh Bank, according to a submission by the e-commerce platform to the commerce ministry today.
The company has 207,741 customers.
The disclosure by the company comes a week after it said, in another submission to the ministry, that its liabilities to customers and merchants stood at Tk 543 crore as of mid-July.
Of the amount, Evaly estimated its intangible asset to be worth Tk 438 crore, including a brand value of Tk 422 crore.
According to the Evaly's latest submission, its liabilities are 35 per cent higher than the amount found by an initial probe of Bangladesh Bank.
The central bank found that Evaly had Tk 404 crore in dues as of the middle of March, including Tk 214 crore in liabilities to customers.
Evaly shared the figure of its liabilities to customers in line with the commerce ministry's directive to explain the whereabouts of around Tk 338 crore that it owed to customers and merchants.
