Red carpet looks from the 73rd Emmy Awards
While most things remained mundane during the tumultuous pandemic, the entertainment industry ensured our sanity while we were stuck within our abodes. As gradually things start getting back to normal, the 73rd Emmy Awards was held in-person at Los Angeles after last year's virtual rendition.
Just as seeing our favourite stars walk the red carpet was refreshing, so were there dapper looks. It seems like the celebrities prepared for this year's Emmy Awards with more gusto than ever before given the situation. After all, they breathe life to this star-studded event!
This year, the highly applauded looks featured everything from bold looks in black to funky hues in neon, and everything in between. Read along for a synopsis of the eye-catching looks that added vivacity to this glamorous affair.
Bright and Bold Colours
Celebrities appear to be experimenting with characteristic looks and Dan Levy dressed in a royal blue Valentino is the perfect example. Emmy Awards telecast host Cedric the Entertainer donned a catchy graphic blue suit by Jason Rembert that matched well with his fervent persona.
On the other hand, Jason Sudeikis and Bo Burnham both stood out in their blue velvet suits that exuded elegance. Yara Shahidi's custom tailored emerald gown by Dior was also a look that made heads turn.
Neon and Subtle Hues
Playing with colours has never been so fun and stylish. Michaela Coel proved this by donning a bold neon two-piece gown by Christopher John Rogers. Kaley Cuoco slipped on a neon-hued gown by Vera Wang. Adding to the list, Ashley Nicole Black also added colour to the event with bright shades of pink and orange.
Contrastingly, Anya Taylor-Joy chose to flaunt a pale-yellow gown with a silky sheen coupled with a yellow opera coat by Dior. Emma Corrin also picked a pale shade of beige for her custom gown with matching gloves and cap by Miu Miu.
The Classics
Despite the fresh looks, the red carpet seems incomplete without men in black tuxedos and divas in classic red. Sarah Paulson in her red ruched gown with a deep V-neck, Mindy Kaling's black column gown with a custom bow, and Mandy Moore's crimson gown – all by Carolina Herrera added a touch of Hollywood glam.
Josh O'Connor decided to keep it classy by donning a custom suit by Loewe with a black bow tie in a flower shape. For Bowen Yang, it was all about the accessories who paired his tuxedo by Ermenegildo Zegna with silver platform heels by Brooklyn-based Syro. Contrastingly, Billy Porter put on a winged custom look by Ashi that added a dramatic element.
Whether or not your favourite nominated actors and actresses walked out of the event bagging the trophy, rest assured everyone excelled in the fashion department!
