The Digital Commerce Cell (DCC) plans to propose issuing unique business identification number and introducing a central complaints management system and a central logistic tracking platform to streamline the e-commerce sector, DCC Chief AHM Shafiquzzaman said today.

The cell will submit the three recommendations in a report to the cabinet division tomorrow, he said in a press conference at his secretariat office in Dhaka.

"We will soon start paying back the money of the affected e-commerce consumers and merchants that got stuck in payment gateway. We are waiting for an opinion from the legislative wing of the law ministry regarding the pay back," said Shafiquzzaman after the third meeting of the high-powered 15-member committee on e-commerce formed by the cabinet division last month. 

Shafiquzzaman, also an additional secretary to the commerce ministry, could not exactly say from when the government could start refunding Tk 214 crore to customers.

The money is stuck in payment gateway for non-delivery of goods by errant e-commerce firms.
