Massive traffic congestion in Dhaka as students, traders clash in New market area
Vehicular movement on Mirpur Road came to a halt following the renewed clashes between Dhaka College students and traders in New Market area this morning.
Commuters were stuck in the long queues of vehicles between Science Laboratory and New Market area as the clashes began around 10:40am.
Later, the traffic congestion extended to many other areas including Kalyanpur and Gabtoli, reports our photojournalist Prabir Das.
An employee of a private organization told The Daily Star that he started from his Dhanmondi home for his office on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue. But he had to get off his car at Asad Gate and walk to office.
Many people started for the New Market area for Eid shopping in the morning but they are stuck on the road due the clashes.
