President receives FIFA WC trophy at Bangabhaban
President Abdul Hamid, at his official residence Bangabhaban this afternoon, received the FIFA World Cup trophy which arrived in Dhaka earlier in the morning on a 36-hour tour.
The trophy has been accompanied by a seven-member FIFA delegation including former French World Cup winner Christian Karembeu.
A photo released from the Bangabhaban press wing shows the President and the state minister for youth and sports, Zahid Ahsan Russel, holding the trophy, with Karembeu and BFF high-ups by their sides.
Earlier. BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, along with BFF and Coca Cola officials, received the trophy at the airport after a chartered flight is scheduled to land at 10:45am.
The trophy was also to taken to Prime Minister's residence, Gono Bhaban, in the evening.
"The trophy will be displayed for all at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani on Friday afternoon. Some invited guests and winners of Coco Cola draws will get opportunity to take pictures with the trophy," BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag said. "We believe the trophy tour will be the talk of town and strengthen our football."
