PR Summit held at ULAB
The Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised PR Summit in celebration of the 5th anniversary of PR4U on August 19. World Communications, Malaysia CEO Jaffri Osman graced the occasion as the chief guest, and Swisscontact, Bangladesh Head of Portfolio Helal Hussain was present as the special guest.
In his speech, Jaffri said, "Public relations today is visual, visual in terms of graphic." He asked if there are students of PR at the PR Summit and then told them to make a square with their fingers. He further added, "Square stands for a PR person to be strategic, quick, unique, agile, resourceful and engaging. Moreover, a person in public relations must understand empathy and deal with empathy in the current world scenario."
Helal Hussain talked about the rising need of public relations in international and national organisations. He praised the role of the ULAB-MSJ department in generating creative public relations students for national and international organisations.
Among others, Article 19 Regional Director Faruq Faisal, SIBL Head of Marketing and Brand Communication Md. Moniruzzaman, and Forethought PR Client Relations Director Syed Rayhan Tarique also took part in the panel discussion at the event.
PR4U, an apprenticeship program of ULAB-MSJ, is a learning platform for ULABians to improve, develop and practice the advanced elements of public relations and corporate communication.
MSJ Head and event host, Prof. Jude William Genilo and MSJ faculty member Dr Habib M Ali also delivered speeches. The program concluded with a certificate giving ceremony and a panel discussion on public relations.
