Youth killed as friend hits him with dumbbell in Dhaka

A youth was killed by his friend at their mess in Dhaka's Kamrangirchar area this morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Hasan, 19, a worker at a nail factory in Jhawlahati area.

The murder took place around 11:30am. Police detained victim's friend and co-worker Md Emon, 19, in this connection.

Mostafa Anwar, officer-in-charge of Kamrangirchar Police Station, said the two friends had an altercation over a trivial matter while working at the factory last night.

The OC said Hasan allegedly slapped Emon last night. He even told this to other mess members in the morning, making Emon angry. At one stage, Emon hit Hasan's head with a dumbbell, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC said.

Filing of a case is underway.
