Childrens’ film ‘Aam Kathaler Chhuti’ to locally release on August
Mohammad Nuruzzaman's directorial debut, "Aam Kathaler Chhuti", has been officially selected to participate in the International Feature Film Competition section of the UBA International Film Festival, organised by University of Buenos Aires. The festival will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 25th to 30th July 2023.
12 films selected from around eight hundred films submitted from different countries of the world have been placed in this category.
Based on Sharif Uddin Sabuj's short story, the children's film was produced by the director himself. Nuruzzaman believes that those who passed their childhood and adolescence in the seventies and mid-nineties of the last century, will see the life of that age in this film made in a nostalgic atmosphere.
Along with that, a new generation will be able to witness the lost or declining rural heritage and our own folk culture. The international version of the film is titled "Summer Holiday".
The festival will feature two screenings of "Aam Kathaler Chhuti" at the Sala Manuel Antin auditorium on July 26th and July 28th at 6 pm and 1:30 pm Buenos Aires time, respectively. Each show will feature producer of each films question-and-answer session with the audience.
Recently, the film has also received official selection from Spain's Barcelona Indie Filmmakers Fest 2023. It won the Special Jury Award at the Cheboksary International Film Festival held in Cheboksary, Russia from May 26 to June 1, 2023.
Last year, "Aam Kathaler Chhuti" had its international premiere at the Jogja-NETPACK Asian Film Festival, held in Jakarta, Indonesia from November 26 to December 3, where the film had another screening in the Asian Perspective section. The festival committee and the audience also appreciated the film.
Apart from producing, directing, writing the screenplay, Mohammad Nuruzzaman has also done the sound design. Lion, Zubair, Arif, Halima and Tanzil played the lead roles. The main assistant director of the film is "Adim" famed Yuvraj Shamim.
"Aam Kathaler Chhuti" will be released in theaters on August 18 nationwide.
