Govt rises transmission, distribution charges for gas companies
The government has increased the transmission and distribution charges for gas companies from July.
This charge will be deducted from the price of gas at the consumer level. However, the gas price will remain the same as of February, when the price was hiked by 14.49 percent to 178.88 percent in power, industries and commercial sector users.
In today's order, the government has increased transmission charges by 117 percent and distribution charges by 57 to 63 percent for the six distribution companies.
Gas Transmission Company Ltd will get Tk1.02 as a transmission charge against per cubic meter gas which was Tk 0.47 earlier-- a 117 percent hike.
Among the six distribution companies, Titas will get Tk 0.21 paise per cubic meter, which was Tk 0.13, set by Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission in 2022.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission used to set the prices at the consumer level as well as the charges of the companies. But on January 18, the government had increased the price of gas by executive order using a new law.
The new distribution charges for the companies named Bakhrabad, Karnaphuli, Jalalabad, Paschimanchal and Sundarban are Tk 0.30, Tk 0.37, Tk 0.18, Tk 0.26, Tk 0.24 respectively.
