Srijit Mukherji confirms Dengue diagnosis
Noted Tollywood director Srijit Mukherji is suffering from Dengue. While rumours had swirled for a few days, it was the director's own social media post that confirmed the news on Saturday.
Taking to his Facebook profile, Srijit made a post that resonated deeply with his followers. He cleverly replaced the lyrics of his renowned song "Cholo Rastay Shaji Tramline" from his popular movie "Autograph" with the lines, 'Dengue is caused by water in the street, and the platelets decrease…', followed by a resolute 'Confirmed' hashtag.
Veteran filmmaker Aparna Sen, showing her empathy, commented, "Take Care Riju! I too had dengue and know how debilitating it is. I hope you went to a nursing home.' Srijit's reply, while laced with his signature wit, read, 'Not yet. I'm thinking of packing the suitcase after looking at the platelets tomorrow." This implies that, though he is currently at home, he is prepared to consider hospitalisation depending on tomorrow's platelet count.
The director's health setback comes at a juncture when the teaser for his much-awaited web series "Durgarhasya" was released recently. The series, starring Anirban Bhattacharyya, Sohini Sarkar, and Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, was initially slated for an August release. Coincidentally, Dev and Rukmini Maitra's film, "Byomkesh O Durga Rahasya," is also expected to release on the same day. Yet, the exact release date of Srijit's series remains undisclosed.
Meanwhile, anticipation builds around Srijit's upcoming film "Dasham Avatar," expected to grace the screens during the Puja festivities.
