Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh unite for 'Singham Again'
Nearly a decade since the release of "Singham Returns", Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn and director Rohit Shetty are reuniting for the third installment of the successful cop franchise, aptly titled "Singham Again." The cop drama's shooting began over the weekend, and the Mahurat (inaugural ceremony) was graced by the presence of the director, lead actor, and Ranveer Singh, who portrays Simmba in Rohit Shetty's cop universe.
Ajay Devgn took to his Instagram account to share two photos from a "Singham Again" inauguration ceremony.
Ajay Devgn's caption read, "12 years ago, we gave Indian Cinema its biggest cinematic Cop Universe. With all the love we have received over the years, the force got stronger, and the Singham family got bigger. Today we come together to take our franchise ahead with 'Singham Again'!"
Ranveer Singh, who plays Simmba in the Cop Universe, posted an additional picture of himself performing an aarti (a Hindu ritual) in front of the camera. In his caption, he expressed his enthusiasm for reprising the character and sought the audience's love and blessings for this new journey.
Notably absent from the Mahurat pictures was Akshay Kumar, who portrays Sooryavanshi in Rohit Shetty's cop universe. Akshay clarified his absence in the caption of his Instagram post, stating, "Not in the country at the moment, missing from the frame in person but totally there in spirit. Can't wait to join you guys on the sets of #SinghamAgain! Sending my best wishes. Jai Mahakaal (namaste emoji)."
Rohit Shetty's cop universe features three primary franchises: Ajay's "Singham" (2011), Akshay's "Sooryavanshi" (2021), and Ranveer's "Simmba" (2018). The filmmaker is set to make his series debut with "Indian Police Force" on Prime Video India, featuring Sidharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi, and Shilpa Shetty in key roles.
