‘The Cage’ opens doors for rising rock bands in Bangladesh
A new reality talent show, "The Cage", aims to elevate the rock band scene in Bangladesh. Launched to provide a platform for emerging rock bands, the competition is designed to showcase undiscovered musical talent from across the country.
Details of the show were announced at a press conference in Dhaka on November 13. The organisers explained that "The Cage" is not just another talent hunt but a platform to nurture and develop aspiring rock musicians.
Online auditions will be held nationwide, with the top 100 candidates being selected for live auditions. The competition will then narrow the field down to the best 40, who will form new rock bands through a knockout round.
A panel of seasoned judges has been lined up, featuring AvoidRafa frontman Raef Al Hasan Rafa, Warfaze vocalist Palash Noor, Arbovirus guitarist Asif Asgar Ranjan, and musician Tashfee.
Esteemed guest judges and mentors, such as Mechanix's Aftabuzzaman Tridib, Bay of Bengal's Bakhtiar Hossain, and Artcell's Saef Al Nazi Cézanne, will participate at different stages.
Solo stars including Tahsan Khan, Elita Karim, and Mila are also expected to share their insights and experiences with the contestants.
The show will be hosted by Alif Alauddin, with Jamshed Chowdhury from Powersurge serving as the backstage host.
The winning band will be featured on the cover of MW Magazine, record their original songs, and perform in a concert. They will also have the opportunity to secure a merchandise deal.
The programme will be overseen by music industry veterans like Feedback founder Foad Nasser Babu, Miles' guitarist Manam Ahmed, and Warfaze's drummer Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu.
