Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad yesterday expressed deep shock and concern over a "false and harassment-driven case" filed against 70 minority lawyers and two journalists in Chattogram.

The case filed with the Kotwali Police Station on November 30, accuses them of being involved in crude bombs explosions and vandalising vehicles.

"A group with vested interests filed the case against them to obstruct the legal defence and media coverage related to the sedition case against Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari. Such actions blatantly violate human rights and undermine the rule of law," reads a statement issued last night.

The Parishad urged the government and law enforcement authorities to immediately withdraw the "baseless" case.

It also stressed the need to uphold justice and protect the rights of the legal and journalistic communities.
