A woman died after being hit by a private car on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila this morning.

The deceased was identified as Rahima Khatun, 30, resident of Porabaria village under Gafargaon in Mymensingh.

Mauna Highway Police Station Officer-in-charge Ayub Ali told The Daily Star the incident took place while the woman was crossing the road around 10:00am near a filling station in Beraiderchala area.

Later, police recovered the body from the road.

The body was handed over to the family on request. Further legal action is under process, OC Ayub said.
