One of the most beloved Indian web-series "Mirzapur" made fans go wild when they announced that they will be making a film. Ali Fazal, set to reprise his role as Guddu Pandit, has teased some exciting details, hinting that the movie might take inspiration from "Peaky Blinders" by bringing back characters who had previously died in the series.

Ali Fazal recently participated in an actors' roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter India, where he shared insights about the "Mirzapur" film.

"It's the original cast, and we're going back to the beginning. It seems to take us back in time since some characters who were thought to be dead are returning," revealed the actor.

When asked if the film might be a prequel to the series, Ali hinted that audiences would have to wait for the release to find out.

"We are thrilled to bring it to the big screen. Even Peaky Blinders followed a similar path; it wasn't an unusual or random decision," added the actor.

"Mirzapur", created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh, is set to release in 2026. The movie will see the return of Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as Munna, along with Abhishek Banerjee reprising his role as the compounder.

The project was officially announced in October this year.

The film will have a theatrical release before becoming available for streaming on Prime Video India. Produced by Excel Entertainment, this crime thriller series debuted its first season in November 2018, followed by the second season in October 2020. The third season premiered in July 2024.
