‘Mr Absent-Minded’: Apurba’s hilarious take on forgetfulness
Ziaul Faruq Apurba, one of the most sought-after actors of the time, continues to captivate audiences with his diverse talents. While widely recognised for his on-screen presence, Apurba occasionally ventures behind the scenes, crafting compelling narratives. After a prolonged break, the actor has returned to scriptwriting, penning the story for the drama "Mr Absent-Minded", where he also stars in the lead role.
The drama premiered yesterday on the Club Entertainment YouTube channel.
In this latest project, Apurba brings to life an absent-minded protagonist—an individual who forgets almost everything, from critical tasks to mundane chores. The resulting mix of frustrating and humorous situations forms the crux of the story.
Based on personal experiences and everyday observations, the script was adapted into a screenplay by Mezbah Uddin Sumon, while Rubel Hasan directed the production.
Joining Apurba is Tanjim Saiyara Totini, his co-star in hit dramas such as "Pothe Holo Deri" and "Esho Haath Barai". While Totini has been consistently active in television dramas, Apurba shifted his focus to OTT platforms and films, leading to a break in their on-screen collaborations. Their reunion in "Mr Absent-Minded" marks nearly a year since they last appeared together.
Speaking about the drama, director Rubel Hasan shared, "We wanted to present audiences with a fresh story. Apurba and Totini's pairing was included as a special treat. Totini plays a doctor in the drama, and we believe viewers will connect with the narrative."
The supporting cast features Fayaz Ahmed, Mili Basher, Shampa Nizam, and others. The quirky storyline, which explores common lapses in memory—like misplacing items or forgetting crucial details—is expected to resonate with audiences.
"Mr Absent-Minded" is now available for streaming on Club Entertainment's YouTube channel.
