IUB’s EEE Department celebrates IEB-BAETE Accreditation
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised the IEB-BAETE Accreditation Celebration for the B.Sc. in EEE programme on December 4, 2024 at the IUB Auditorium. The event brought together students, academics, and alumni to celebrate the 5-year accreditation of the B.Sc. in EEE programme. IUB's B.Sc. in EEE is the first such programme in Bangladesh to achieve this milestone.
The celebration, hosted in collaboration with the IEEE IUB Student Branch and supported by the IUB Dance Club as the cultural partner, included students from various departments. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IUB, Didar A. Husain, as the Chief Guest. The Vice Chancellor (Acting), Khandker Md Iftekhar Haider, was the Patron. Prof. Dr Habib Bin Muzaffar, Dean (Acting) of the School of Engineering, Technology, and Sciences (SETS), chaired the programme. Several department and unit heads of IUB also attended as special guests.
Dr Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, Head of the Department of EEE, delivered the opening remarks and the vote of thanks during the formal ceremony, which he also hosted. Three students from the Department of EEE, Md Mosiur Rahman Shadhin, Erisha Shibib, and Rifah Nova, hosted the cultural segment of the event.
The event featured sessions from Prof. Dr Abdur Razzak of the Department of EEE and Director of the IQAC at IUB, and Dr Kafiul Islam of the Department of EEE. They explained the accreditation process and the department's efforts in achieving this milestone.
Mr. Didar A. Husain, Chairman, Board of Trustees, stated, "This recognition is a significant advancement for the department and a testament to IUB's role in shaping the technological future of Bangladesh. The Board of Trustees is committed to supporting the department in sustaining and building on this success."
Khandker Md Iftekhar Haider, Vice Chancellor (Acting), remarked, "This accreditation embodies the diligence and perseverance of everyone involved in the program. It enhances our global presence and opens doors for collaborations and advanced studies that will benefit our students and faculty alike."
Dr Mustafa Habib Chowdhury remarked, "It's the result of unconditional dedication and hard work from our faculty, staff, students and alumni. It reflects our department's commitment to academic excellence and producing engineers equipped to tackle challenges responsibly and ethically."
Prof. Dr Abdur Razzak stated, "This accreditation sets a new benchmark for the department, aligning our programme with international engineering standards. It ensures our graduates are equipped with globally recognised credentials and establishes the Department of EEE as a leader in engineering education in Bangladesh."
Dr Kafiul Islam elaborated on the significance of the accreditation, explaining how it validates the programme's quality and enhances its graduates' credentials worldwide. He highlighted the rigorous process behind this recognition, emphasising its role in establishing the department as a benchmark for engineering education in Bangladesh.
Prof. Dr Habib Bin Muzaffar reflected on the achievement, saying, "This milestone underscores the collective hard work and vision of the EEE department. It is a call to continue striving for excellence, not just for our benefit but as an inspiration for other academic programmes at IUB to aim higher."
The program concluded with an alumni dinner at the IUB Food Court, ending at 10 PM. Tokens of appreciation were given to faculty members and staff for their contributions to this milestone.
