March for Gaza: Crowds throng Suhrawardy Udyan

A large number of people demanding an end to Israeli atrocities in Palestine have started gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka to attend the "March for Gaza" programme.

Although the main programme is set to begin from 3:00pm, hundreds of people started arriving the venue through all gates of Suhrawardy Udyan since early morning.

March for Gaza will be held in protest of the brutal attacks and killings by the Israeli occupation forces and in solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.

The event is scheduled to take place until the Maghrib prayer today.

People from various parts of the city are seen marching in groups from different areas such as Shahbagh, Doel Chattar, and Nilkhet.

Participants were seen carrying national flags of Bangladesh and Palestine.

Speaking to participants in the procession, it was learned that the aim of this mass gathering is to build international public opinion against the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and to evoke humanitarian concern.

According to the organisers, this will be the largest rally in support of Palestine ever held in Dhaka. They are urging people from all political and ideological backgrounds to join the event.

The Khatib of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram, Muhammad Abdul Malek, is expected to preside over the gathering.

There has been a slight change in the original plan for the March for Gaza. Initially, a march was scheduled to proceed from Shahbagh to Manik Mia Avenue.

However, as per the revised decision, the gathering will now remain within Suhrawardy Udyan starting from 3:00pm, and there will be no procession toward Manik Mia Avenue.

Several political and professional organisations, including the National Citizen Party (NCP), Jamaat-e-Islami, Hefazat-e-Islam and AB Party, will join the "March for Gaza".
