Country launches 18-plus launch service
The country yet again took another traffic-jam changing decision by deciding not to sell any tickets to persons without NIDs. People have already started to call this measure an "18-plus launch service" as someone must be 18 or above to get an NID card.
Getting some wind of this, a toddler without an NID and a birth certificate – which is taking years to be made -- asked his parents, "Are you going to go to our village home without me?"
Others are uncertain about the journey to ancestral homes as their NIDs have been under process for years. "It's been 10 years since I completed all the procedures to get my NID, but still I haven't gotten it. I don't even know how it looks. Will they give my NID with the death certificate?" Munna said.
Tahmid, knowing that he is not going to get on the 18-plus launch service, fumed, "I applied for my NID when I turned 18. Since then, I dated someone for five years, married her and we had a son who is now studying in class three. But still I haven't gotten my NID! How can I buy a ticket?"
Meanwhile, the city is renovating its old and obsolete "Shishu Park" as shishus are about to be left alone in the city for the crime of not being older than 18 and not having an NID. They will even not be able to use their birth certificates as the certificate has been in process since their births.
On the other hand, people with NID are claiming to be the luckiest in the world as they are going to get the 18-plus launch service.
"Yes! I have an NID! I want to take the opportunity to thank my family, friends, classmates, girlfriends, boyfriends and of course the person who captured my photo keeping every part of my face in place, for helping me and supporting me during this journey to get an NID. For you, only you, I am able to avail the country's latest 18-plus launch service. Thank you again," Shams, a lucky guy with an NID, wrote in a Facebook post.
