Deshi Ballers hosting first ever women's basketball tournament at National Sports Institute of Bangladesh
Deshi Ballers, a female-led basketball organisation dedicated to promoting women's basketball and empowering girls through sports, announced its upcoming international women's day basketball tournament to be held on March 11. The tournament will take place at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP).
The tournament is an opportunity for promoting women's basketball and raising awareness about the importance of gender equity in sports. As an organisation committed to advancing gender equity in sports, Deshi Ballers will host this event in partnership with Save & Serve Foundation (Title Sponsor) and Grameen Danone Foods Limited (Nutrition Partner), to push for the inclusion of women in basketball and other sports.
"BKSP has a long history of producing the best athletes in Bangladesh. Men's basketball has been part of BKSP curriculum for a long time and it is time to include women," said Ashreen Mridha, co-founder of Deshi Ballers. "We believe that this tournament will serve as a steppingstone towards introducing women's basketball at BKSP. This will help us build a strong pool of female basketball players who can compete internationally."
The tournament will feature players from schools, colleges, universities, clubs, and organizations from all over Bangladesh. In addition to the basketball games, there will be shooting contests, all-star games, and other entertainment for attendees.
