Smooth sailing for Match 4 winner of The Daily Star GENIUS
Match 4 of The Daily Star GENIUS powered by Walton Smart Fridge, an online inter-school quiz competition, took place on Monday October 26 between Bangladesh International Tutorial (BIT), Bangladesh International School and College (BISC), and Hurdco International School. It was an intriguing contest, with students fighting tooth and nail over who knows more about the Nobel Prize, Hason Raja, the Ptolemaic reign of Egypt, and everything in between.
Mir Ramisa Raiyan Rose from BIT came out with the win after 40 tough questions, with Abrar Mehedi from BISC coming in second, and Fariha Rahman from Hurdco International School bringing up the rear. The questions were challenging, but right from the beginning, Rose got off to a great start and took the lead. Abrar and Fariha tried their best, but halfway into the contest, Rose already had a lead that looked unassailable. A twist did emerge in the form of Rose getting disconnected for two questions. But that served only to minimise her lead as she still ended up the winner with 1756 points. Abrar put up a good fight with his haul of 1424 points, and Fariha managed to accumulate 993 points at the end.
"I feel relieved, I was a bit nervous and stressed, but I didn't let that overpower me. I'm really glad," said a quietly confident Rose at the end of the contest. She proceeds to the next round where three contestants are already waiting to compete and become the first-ever The Daily Star GENIUS.
The Daily Star GENIUS powered by Walton Smart Fridge is an initiative of SHOUT. Episodes are aired live at 9 PM every Monday on The Daily Star and SHOUT's Facebook page, as well as The Daily Star's YouTube channel and website.
