The perks of being single on Valentine’s Day
Valentine's Day, otherwise known as "the day of invisibility" for all single people, is here. Before you go rummaging around your house looking for the invisibility cloak hidden beneath the mound of your tear-soaked tissues, here's a reminder that being single on Valentine's Day isn't all doom and gloom.
Buy yourself flowers (or literally anything you want).
Most couples can't afford to give each other flowers because florists have suddenly begun selling La Rosè instead of Golap. Moreover, they had to spend a lot of money on their week-long/month-long anniversaries as well as on all the days leading up to Valentine's Day, rendering their wallets empty.
You, on the other hand, can treat yourself to an expensive flower bouquet or a two-person meal at any restaurant with all the money you have saved up by staying single. You could also just settle to not spend a single penny if that's what you prefer.
You don't need to be hung up about your outfit.
Unless you want to, chances are you don't have to worry about how to dress. That's correct, it's entirely up to you to decide whether you want to wear your favourite pair of jeans and a t-shirt or a fancy outfit. While everyone else is dressed like a red flag, you don't have to worry about anyone else's preference because yours is the only one that matters.
No plans are a blessing in disguise.
Nowadays, setting up a date is just as complex as planning a wedding. There is a myriad of factors that must be taken into consideration before one settles where and when to go out on a date.
It must obviously be within one's price range, Instagram-worthy as well as Pinterest-proof. Anything one might have already done with their previous partner is not acceptable. In addition, the couple must also ensure that they aren't caught by either of their parents. To make matters worse, the traffic in Dhaka isn't going to get any better.
You, however, don't have to deal with any of that.
You're single and can do whatever you want.
Do you want to watch a movie at home? Go out for a bite with your friends? Order in? Binge-watch your favourite shows and movies? Or, why not take a stroll around the city? You can do whatever you want without worrying about anyone else!
You have complete control. Use this chance to indulge yourself and let your emotions run wild. While you're at it, consider the possibility that someone as wild or independent as you is also reading this right now.
