Moonstruck
A partial lunar eclipse is taking place tonight.
The eclipse began at 9:48pm and will end at 2:52am, Md Aftab, meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department in Dhaka, told The Daily Star Online.
A slight level of high tide might occur during the lunar eclipse, he said.
It is better not to look up on the sky to observe the event with naked eye, the meteorologist said replying to a query.
There is no scientific evidence that eating during this time is bad for health, he added.
The eclipse might not appear to be very clear in many parts of Bangladesh due to the monsoon clouds.
It is the first visible lunar eclipse this year.
Meanwhile, observers in, other countries of Asia including India, Africa and Australia would be able to see the partial eclipse in its entirety, reports NDTV.
Partial lunar eclipse is when the Earth moves in between the Moon and the Sun but the three do not line up exactly. Only part of the Moon comes under the Earth's shadow, and looks darker.
