Shakib drops to 3 in T20 all-rounder rankings

Bangladesh's ace all-rounder and T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan had initially been left out of the Nidahas Trophy tournament owing to an injury to his little finger. The all-rounder however made a surprise return to the Tigers' squad in the crucial match against Sri Lanka -- a virtual semifinal.

Previously on March 12, BCB physio had suggested that Shakib's injury might take some time to heal and that he would be able to return to sports activities in 7-10 days. He had mentioned that being match fit was another thing altogether. However, Shakib returned to action on March 16, without having participated in any competitive games since his injury. And it is reflected in the latest ICC all-rounder rankings as he slid down one place and lost the second position to Mohammed Nabi of Afghanistan.

While Shakib showed glimpses with the ball, his bat however did not spark the rebellion it was supposed to create in the two matches he played in.

Shakib has slid down the batting and bowling rankings too. He has stepped down to 45th  (from 38th position) in the rankings for batsmen while in the bowlers' rankings, he slid down two positions to 12th.

Meanwhile Tigers' strike bowler Mustafizur Rahman is the only bowler from Bangladesh who is in the top 10 in the bowlers' rankings, securing eighth position while pacer Rubel Hossain has attained a career best 42nd place, moving up 40 steps.

Tamim Iqbal is in 40th while Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim are in 42nd and 47th position in the ICC ratings for batsmen. Soumya Sarkar despite having a moderate outing in Nidahas Trophy is the highest place among the Bangladesh batsmen in the rankings, a step ahead of Chris Gayle as he is ranked in 31st place.
