Pakistan accepts hybrid model for Champions Trophy: Reports

After a long and drawn out deliberation process, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have seemingly agreed on a hybrid model for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy which the ICC has also approved and will officially declare soon, reports multiple outlets from Pakistan and India.

The tournament, which was supposed to take place entirely in Pakistan, was thrown into uncertainty once India said they would not send their team to Pakistan. The two boards have been busy in tense negotiations since then with the ICC as the mediator.

As per the reports, India will play all three of their group-stage matches in Dubai, which would include the much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash. The semifinal and final are also to take place at the UAE. However, if India get eliminated in the group-stage, the semifinal and final will instead be held in Lahore and Rawalpindi in Pakistan.

The PCB had reportedly demanded financial compensation for this agreement. However, their demand was not met, instead, they have been promised the hosting rights for an ICC Women's tournament after 2027.

It was also decided that Pakistan would not travel to India in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka, and they would play their group-stage matches in Colombo.

The 2025 Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9. However, due to the conflict regarding the hosting rights, the tournament itinerary or groups have not yet been declared.
