Runs come easily when batting with Liton: Rony

Bangladesh batter Rony Talukdar credited his fellow opener Liton Das' aggressive approach for the Tigers' recent success at the top of the order on Thursday.

Liton said the same yesterday saying a change in opening partner had done the trick as Bangladesh managed to get solid starts from their openers in T20Is since pairing up Liton and Rony in the England series.

Rony, who made a return to the national fold after a gap of almost eight years, was given an opportunity following an impressive season in the Bangladesh Premier League earlier this year. His aggressive approach was a trait that stood out and the right-handed batter said he believes that if his partner buys into the same aggressive approach at the other end, it becomes easier to score at pace in the middle.

"When my pattern of play is aggressive, I would also want my partner to play the same way. It makes it easier for both of us. You won't know how easily runs are being scored while batting with Liton," he told the reporters on Thursday.

The 32-year-old also pointed out how pleasing Liton's batting was to the eyes and how easily runs flow when he's at the crease.

"I feel he is the team's main batter. It is a matter of excitement to be able to bat with him. We always try to rotate the strike. When you are batting with him, runs come easy. You just want to keep watching him bat. There is a lot to learn from him as well," he said.

The aggressive and fearless approach from the Tigers in these recent matches has been a hallmark of Shakib Al Hasan's side as they handed T20 World Champions England a clean sweep and are en route to do the same to Ireland as they have already taken a 2-0 lead.

Rony pointed out that the T20 skipper Shakib has been the source of the aggressive mentality which he tries to spread amongst the squad.

"Shakib bhai is a legendary player, you know it as well. When I played with him in Abahani 12 years ago, he had the same intent back then as well. He had the same mentality. He always tries to be positive and tries to dominate. He is trying to spread that dominating mentality amongst the team," he said.

"We will try to dominate. We will play like Tigers. We won't have any fear and come onto the field with positive intent. We might fail at times, and we might get success. If we can carry this, then our successes will increase," he added.
