Shakib and Shanto depart in quick succession
Najmul Hossain Shanto missed out on his maiden ODI century as he became the second batter to get dismissed in his 70s after Liton Das, and Shakib Al Hasan fell while trying to up the ante leaving the Tigers at 192 for four after the end of the 34th over in the second ODI against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Shanto, who hit three fours and two sixes for his 78-ball 73, tickled one down the leg side to the keeper off the bowling of Graham Hume in the 34th over.
Prior to that, Shakib tried to force the pace of the game when he tried to slog Hume but the right-arm seamer adjusted by bowling a slower one outside off-stump which deceived Shakib as he top-edged it to gully. He looked good for his 19-ball 17 that featured two fours.
