Tigresses set 194-run target to win Ireland series
Bangladesh women's team restricted Ireland to 193-6 in their 50 overs in the second WODI of the three-match series and require 194 to win the match and take an unassailable 2-0 lead at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka today.
Ireland, who were bowled out for a mere 98 runs in the first match, put forth a much-improved batting performance in the second match after opting to bat first.
Wicketkeeper-batter Amy Hunter led the charge with 68 off 88 balls while Orla Prendergast and Laura Delany made useful contributions of 37 and 33 respectively. Una Raymond-Hoey then hit an unbeaten 21 off 18 balls which took Ireland close to the 200-run mark.
For Bangladesh, off-spinner Sultana Khatun took a couple of wickets while Nahida Akter and Shorna Akter claimed one wicket each. The other two wickets fell through run-outs.
Earlier, Bangladesh had won the first WODI by 154 runs, their biggest-ever win in the format.
