This has never happened to me, Ronaldo says
Cristiano Ronaldo dubbed his two goals against Juventus in the first leg of the quarterfinal last night as amazing and suggests that the standing ovation he got in Turin from Juventus fans was an unbelievable experience for him.
Italian fans rose up in appreciation of Ronaldo’s magnificent overhead kick and Ronaldo reiterated that it was something that never happened to him before – getting an ovation from opposition fans during a match. For Cristiano boos and whistles have been the norm – his fans adore him while opposition fans slight his achievements.
"It was an incredible moment,” Ronaldo said.
"I want to thank all the Juventus fans as they have done something fantastic that has never happened to me during my career."
The forward also suggested that he did not expect to score that goal. Dani Carvajal dribbled into the box before looping in a cross that fell quite some way behind the forward, but Cristiano showed his awareness by aligning his body shape perfectly to meet the cross with a brilliant overhead kick that turned jeers to cheers.
"What can I say? It was fantastic. I didn't expect to score that goal, but let's speak about the game. I think the game was amazing and we scored three goals against Juventus, a great team. We played nice and of course I am happy. I helped the team, I scored two goals and it was a great night,” Ronaldo commented on post-match interview.
