Another Swadhin Bangla Football Team member departs
Sheikh Abdul Hakim, member of the Swadhin Bangla Football Team, passed away at the early hours of Sunday at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
He was 75. He had been admitted to the hospital for a month after suffering a stroke.
Hakim, the latest of the famous team which toured India during the war of liberation to raise fund and create awareness among the people outside Bangladesh, was born in Jashore, He made his name in Dhaka's football scene in 1970s. He left behind his wife, a son, three daughters and a host of well-wishers.
Hakim had played for Dilkusha Sporting, Wapda and Wari, among other clubs, before and after independence. He represented Bangladesh in two editions of Mardeka Cup.
