Bangladesh Police registered the joint-biggest margin of victory of the season with a 7-0 thrashing of relegation-threatened Azampur FC in their Bangladesh Premier League fixture at the Shaheed Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Saturday.

Police's effort matched that of Abahani's, who had beaten the same opposition by the same scoreline earlier in the league. In fact, the next biggest margin of victory, too, came against the same opposition – a 6-0 thrashing by Mohammedan Sporting Club. Police had beaten Azampur FC by 4-0 in the first leg of the league. The newly-promoted club from Uttara, who are yet to win a match in their debut top-flight season, had in fact suffered a 7-0 thrashing by Mohammedan in a Federation Cup match too.

In yesterday's game, Mohammad Abdullah and Johan Arango scored a brace apiece while Robiul Hasan, Syed Kimine and Edward Morillo scored a goal each. The defeat kept Azampur FC firmly in relegation zone with four points from 15 matches while Police moved up to third position with 23 points from 16 matches.

In the other match of the day, Fortis FC beat Muktijoddha Sangsad KC 2-0 at the Muktijoddho Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi. Amiruddin Sharifi and Mojammel Hossain Nira scored two late goals to take the newcomers to seventh position, with 16 points from 14 matches. Muktijoddha, meanwhile, dropped to eighth position with 15 points from 15 matches.
