‘Dressing room is disappointed’ – Chhetri after draw with Bangladesh
Despite seizing a draw with late a goal in the 88th minute, India captain Sunil Chhetri tweeted that the India dressing room were disappointed with their performance against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh led for most of the game courtesy of a Saad Uddin header in the 42nd minute. The visitors sat back in order to contain India midfield and attacked whenever opportunities arose. Bangladesh hit the post in the 55th minute and a few minutes earlier Gurpeet Singh had denied Jibon after a defence-splitting pass from Biplo.
The defender Adil Khan rescued India with a goalline clearance. India produced better football in the last 20 minutes, putting Bangladesh under immense pressure before finding the equalizer through Adil.
The pressure had been on India to perform at home and Chhetri was not very impressed with the way the team turned up in front of a capacity crowd at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
“We couldn't deliver a performance to match the atmosphere at the Salt Lake last night, and the dressing room is very disappointed about it. We couldn’t capitalise on the chances we got, but this is a process on the pitch and in the stands. You turned up; we'll keep attempting to,” he wrote on Twitter.
